Hello, I have a quick question related to ASME UHX design.
I'm studying an old heat exchanger, it was designed with TEMA but it needs to be verified with ASME UHX.
I'm getting a high stress due to bending on the shell, but I know that it is allowed in UHX 13.5 to exceed the material allowable stress, by taking into account some plastic contribution of the material. This is explained in UHX 13.7 (I'm still studying this part of the code, so maybe I misunderstood something).

Is ASME UHX 13.7 somewhere in pvelite calculations? I can't find it.
Thank you!

Federico

PS for PvElite Support techs: you did not receive any news from me because I'm on XP now... no more bugs or mismatches on read&write permissions. Cheers!

Hi Fedeghi,

PV Elite automatically considers the elastic/plastic calculation as part of the solution unless you have the check box "Is the exchanger Operating in the Creep Range (skip EP, ...)" checked. You didn't mention the type of exchanger, but this primarily applies to fixed tubesheet units.

We are very happy that you are running without issues now.
