There are forumulas for stresses in bellows:

Meridional Membrane Stress due to Deflection
SMMDU = ( EAMB1*T*T*E )/(2.0*W^3*Cf )
Meridional Bending Stress due to Deflection
SMBDU = 5.0*EAMB1*T*E/(3.0*W*W*CD)

They are taken from PVELITE manual...but can U give me any
origin, source of this formulas
HOw they had been written and why?

THKS

Hello Rafitop,
the basis of these equations is
W.F. Anderson, Analysis of Stresses in Bellows, Part I (1964), Part II (1965), United States Atomic Energy Commision.
Similar formulas with modifications are used for example in EJMA, ASME and EN 13445.

Thanks a lot,
Possibly you can say, where this book can be found in the enternet?

Google for 'W.F. Anderson, Analysis of Stresses in Bellows, Part I (1964), Part II (1965), United States Atomic Energy Commission'.

I ve made a small analysis on unreinforced bellows with using Ansys and compared it with PVElite (which is using Anderson - EJMA and ASME formulas)
with pressure loading and axial diflection results were very good - difference were less then 8 percents

But when I started solving with lateral displacement
I got different results
anderson 383 MPa
Ansys 300

What is the reason? possibly anybody have met such difference in formulas and experiments? may be it is depend on geometry of bellow?
