Ricardo,

Your post does not give enough information - what is it you are asking? You may be querying Zick analysis, which you can read about in commonly available literature. Or try Pressure Vessel design Manual by Dennis Moss, from Gulf Publishing, for design of horizontal vessels on saddles.

Ricardo,

This effect is temperature related. If you consider the longitudinal axis of vessel splits the vessel into two; in case one half gets cooler/hotter than the other half the vessel will bow due to the temperature difference.

You can see this effect mostly on the pipelines that get hotter on one side under the sunlight.

The same thing can occur in the process vessels if heating/cooling is not uniform.

Hope it helps.

Thank you Ibrahim,

Do you know some equation related to this effect or some paper that explain fiscally and mathematically?

Ricardo,

If your problem is in a process vessel I suggest you to consult a FEA specialist. I guess the temperature gradient on the vessel overall and in the thickness is not uniform. Therefore, this can not be solved by a simple hand calculation.

If you have uninsulated pipeline in the sunlight, you can model your pipe by Caesar II and use the option for this purpose.
