Hi,

I was doing a pressure vessel design in PVElite which has a bottom cone and doesn't have any knuckle radius.

The cone is failing with respect to reinforcement calculations at the large end of the cone. I tried to put a stiffening ring at the cone to shell juntion, but in PVElite stiffening ring details when you select this option PVElite is calculating the maximum distance between ring and junction which is not complaint to ASME code.

I am not able to upload the PVElite file with this post, could someone please let me know how do we attach the .pvdb extension file to this post or is there any other way that can send my PVElite file.

Vessel & Design Details of the vessel I am designing,

ID - 1800mm
Shell length (top weld seam to bottom weld seam) - 2220, which is made of 2 strakes 3 mm thick (1 off 1000mm and 1 off 1220mm)
Vessel has a top tori head - ID - 1800mm, ICR - 1800mm, IKR - 180mm, SF - 25mm, 3mm thick

Bottom cone Details - half apex angle - 30deg cone
internal Dia @ large end of the cone - 1800mm
Internal dia @ the small end of cone - 38.1mm
cone length approximtely - 1472mm

Design Details:
Internal Pressure - 100kPa
External Pressure - 5kPa
Internal / External Design Temperature - 50 deg C
Material of construction - SA240-304
Joint Efficiency - 0.7, both longitudinal and circumferential welds

If you need any more info or have any questions, please contact me.

Thank you &
Regards,
Chandanraj

Click on file manager, then one dialogue box will open, select file & upload it. I think it should work.

Can you elaborate the exact problem? Which calculation is not complying ASME Code?

Thanks.
