hi,
one of our client is asking us to design the column as per below
" Vessel fabricator shall design vessel for the following cases
1. Normal operating condition with all applicable external loads
2 Upset condition with full operating liquid with full wind & seismic load. 3. and liquid level shall be set at face of top flange plus one meter 4. steam out condition with full vacuum at 150 deg C."
Please let me know, how to consider in PV Elite program or else please explain me about this to better understand this.
Thank you,
BR, Sameer

Hello sameercnn
In PV Elite there is provision for the user to set the load cases that best suit his purpose. All you have to do, is click on the Load Cases tab at the bottom on the screen, and set them up.
With regard to the steam out, you need to set the degree of vacuum you expect and set this up as external pressure.
PV Elite with take care of whatever you want. If there are external forces on the vessel, you only have to enter those forces for PV Elite to take them into account.

Hello Mr. Ray Delaforce,
Thank you for your quick reply. Sir, please explain about item 2 & 3 in detail, I mean how to enter in PV Elite?
My understanding for item 4 is, shall I add one meter liquid level in internal pressure (static head)?
and for item 3, can I consider external load case as OW+WI+EQ+IP+EP ?
Thanks,
regards, Sameer

Hello sameercnn
You only need to state an external pressure for the steam out condition.

Sameer,
This forum is not a substitute for technical support. It is only for technical discussions.
For additional static pressure, go to Design Constraints tab and there is an input "Additional Ope. Static Press," specify the static pressure for the height above the vessel top.
For the Upset condition, just make a copy of the PV Elite file from the design run and then specify the upset condition in the copy file.
