This one is a bit of an old chestnut...

Using PVElite 2008 I have been experiencing problems adding materials to the PD5500 database and getting the stress values I was expecting. After I have entered a new material and merged it with the database the stress values used in a model seem to be out of step from the design temperature. For example, for a design temperature of 100°C the values of operating allowable and yield stresses are taken from the 150°C database entry. I have re-checked and re-entered but still experience the same problem. I would be grateful if someone could check and advise.

...and while you're at it, is there any chance of looking at this one again. I never did find the updated database file from your website. The dual entries are still there and I keep picking the wrong ones!

Stan,

Thanks for pointing these issues out. We will be looking at them right away. Hopefully we can have a fix to the database editor by the end of the day.

HI,
during designing pressure vessel in pvlite i have subjected to one query that from material database it will ask about "occuranceof material"
what is that?
which occurance we have to select?

Hi Shukla,

There are quite a number of materials in the ASME Code that have exactly the same name or designation. To distinguish the various flavors of these materials we have used the occurence number as a mechanism to tell them apart. The occurence number has nothing to do with the ASME Code Section II Part D.

Just to draw a line under this one...

Currently, adding new materials to the PD5500 database will result in incorrect stresses being used in the calculation. If you need to add materials to the PD5500 database then you should contact the guys at Coade. There is a fix available.

(NB: This applies to PVElite 2008 until a new build has been released)
