We have an outdoor 72" ID vacuum line we want to analyze. It's a horizontal pipe, but B31.3 says to use ASME VIII Div 1 to analyze for external pressure. I can model the pipe and rings fine, but I don't see any wind loading in the results, although I thought I had it set up. Does wind apply to horizontal vessels in PVElite?

Hi Larry,

In order to get the program to calc the wind loads on horizontal vessels, you must have some sort of support set up, most likely saddles.

Once you have the saddles located, run the model and the wind loads and support analysis should show up in the output.
