Having trouble with how best to run clash detection and record approvals.

As I began to use it I envisioned having an empty "master" model with all the other piping, equipment and steel models XREF'd into it. Then all the approvals would be recorded against a clash list generated in this "master" empty model. Each designer would then go into the master empty model and approve clashes pertaining to their model. We could then export a single report of all clashes/approvals for the project.

However, it looks like you can only approve clashes generated for objects in your current model. This would rule out my proposed use of a master model, and each designer would need to run clash for their own models and XREF the other models in.

My question is how to not duplicate looking at the same clash twice if the clash is between two objects in different models. Would the same clash need to be approved in both models? I tried testing the XREF sync clash option, but could make no sense of it.

Thanks for any help.
