We are starting a new project that has jacketed pipe.. Has anyone created a cadworks spec for this? If so how did you create the ISO'S?
We are thinking of just a pipe within a pipe and running 2 seperate ISO'S.. any thoughts would be appreciated

I've never seen any piping design software able to do jacketed piping well and easily. Just about any way you choose to do it will be equally right (or wrong, depending how you view it).

I am assuming that you are referring to Exterior Taped/Coated pipe and not a "Dual Containment" type piping (pipe running inside pipe). We use YJ Pipe all the time and it is only called out in the BOM.

Hope that helps?

Not sure if I thanked you for that tip or not. We used it on a major project, all concerned were happy with the output.

I am sure with the new cadworx 2014 it will be much easier. Your welcome Dgorsman. The taps on the valves were the tough part. The model came out pretty cool also.

We've been doing a lot of plastic double-contained piping, where the outer jacket is applied in the field using split pipe. In this case, we use separate line numbers and simply ISO the two separately. The carrier (inside) pipe is spooled/fab'ed as normal, and the outer line is set to all erection components.

For the few times we've done inner/outer welded systems, where everything is shop fabbed, we've used a system similar to what shollinger did.

I know that Intergraph's other software supports actual jacketed piping, and that ISOGEN has specific SKEY data set up for it, but so far no support for it directly in CADWorx.

shollinger, you don't happen to have a copy of this post? The link is no longer valid. I have a project with jacketed piping and was interested in what you did. Thanks,
