We have had an issue with plotting components since we installed 2018 Plant Professional. This does not happen on every drawing but more than not. I have attached an image showing the lines on components when plotting. Its not always the same components that have the lines. Can someone give some ideas of what could be causing this or has anyone else experienced the same issue? We have been opening and plotting with AutoCAD 2017 to fix the issue.

Cant't Say I have ever encountered this. What settings are you running DISPSILH/ISOLINES ? And how are you plotting ? Hidden / Legacy Hidden etc ?

When plotting in Legacy hidden, DISPSILH/ISOLINES must be on 1 and 0

Bump same problem here. we have upped to 2018 and our plan and section views do the same thing. DISPSILH and ISOLINES are set properly

Dang had the same thing too. Think I fixed it, but can't recall - changed jobs. Will have to look at notes.

There's a system variable you can try, I think it's HIDEPRECISION (not at my computer right now). It changes hidden line calculations to double-precision but it increases printing time. I've seen this more with sloped lines, especially those which are only slightly off level.

HIDEPRECISION has been deprecated, and VSHIDEPRECISION only affects the visual style.

I'll have to fall back to an oldie-but-goodie: how far out in space are these models? If they are moved back to the WCS origin, do they still have the problem?

Were those lines modeled in a different version than the ones that are plotting correctly?

this is an issue that has been with us since we switched to 2018. We have 2017 on some of our design guys and when we really need a good plot we have to do it with one of their stations. I have looked at all the settings. Just seems like it plots as it should in 2017 and not 2018. Just to point out we have tried 2017 on both AutoCAD 2017 and 2018 and both plot great. CW 2018 on each CADs and we get the same result. Hope they have fixed this in 2019. Weiry about moving to 2019 though.

Bump...This is still an issue. These components were drawn in 2017 but it happens even if I try and redraw some of them. Extra lines appear on some (but not all) piping and flanges. Any solutions yet? I used to open 2017 to fix previously but would have to saveback all of the xrefs to 2013 format to do that now...

I have see this once when a drafter copied one object on top of the other.

If this is still a problem, same as jwood, have seen this when multiple components are on top of one another. Have usually seen this when piping is done in multiple versions of the software. I am going to go out on a limb and say that is likely the case here.

i our case most are drawn with 2018. the ones that were done in 2017R1 we have not had any issues. However, if we open the drawings in autocad 2017 the lines do not appear, only in 2018.
