Having trouble copying user shapes between projects.
I've added user shapes by transferring project data inside spec editor.
Next I copied the user shape .DWG to where the new project spec was located.

My goal is to add several user shapes to our base spec/catalog so when it is copied and modified for new projects, it has said shapes.

I think I just need to know where to path the folder setting (ref. photo) inside spec editor but I'm at a loss... Let me known where I'm going wrong, thanks.

Command: USE2

3D solid prototype drawing file does not exist 'D:\009-Config-CADworx2019\ESPEC\Tubing clamp2[0.5-3D].dwg'..
Unable to initialize User Shape Component 'Tubing clamp2'

There is normally a Path in the CAT file also that links to the usershape block. Perhaps these are creating a conflict of sorts when the PRJ is updated from the CAT.

I had to also import the components through the CAT and then change their path as you stated under the data table, SUBDIRECTORY column, for each COM file.
If anyone knows a way to attach user shapes so that they move with the .CAT & .PRJ files (without changing their subdirectory path) please let me know.

you can put in a relative path where you don't specify the drive letter. Normally I have my usershapes in a subfolder in the PRJ/CAT directory. The software then reads the spec directory from the CFG file to fill in the gaps.

This is the most felxible method I have found.

I've found that CADWorx has problems with user shapes that have a dot in the file name e.g. fractional sizes. There's a parser somewhere in the system which trims after the first '.', assuming it's the file type delimiter. Ditching that for an underscore vastly improved the workings.

Vanman,

I've seen that and I think that is a better method than the hard-coded approach. What is the syntax to use the relative subfolder?

Suppose you have the MAINCWX.cat file in X:\CAD\CADWorx\Catalog and the user shapes in X:\CAD\CADWorx\Catalog\UserShapes\InlineMiscPiping, would the syntax be "..\UserShapes\InlineMiscPiping"?

The catalog would need to specify the actual folder the usershapes are located in.

Think if it this way :

The Config file specification directory and relative path in the catalog should complete the entire path of where the usershapes are stored.

I hope this makes sense ?

Perfect sense! Thank you Vanman.

Answering my own question, the syntax that goes into the SUBDIRECTORY entry in the catalog from the example I provided (quotes for clarity, but not present in entry):

"UserShapes\InlineMiscPiping"

I am getting errors when I try to post a new topic.

HELP!

I can't click on any admin to send a message and "Contact Us" gets a "404" message.

The message says:

"We encountered a problem. The reason reported was
Database error only visible to forum administrators
Please click back to return to the previous page."

I don't know if this is on my side or the servers side. I have tried posting with Microsoft Edge and Mozilla Firefox, both having the same error.

Can anyone help?

I have that problem too. I would just like a site admin fix the problem or go through the steps I need to do on my end to fix it.

I was able to post from home, so I can see if it will work on my work PC.
