PID View (2013 R1 version)

Could someone shed light on any file location-related issues for both application support as well as DWG output files that might hamper PID View from working correctly?

Are there other concerns to be aware of for proper PID View operation?

P&ID's and 3D models will be stored in separate network folders.
Application support customizations are contained in a folder on my hard drive.

(The benefits of being the sole user with automated hard drive backup are many. There too are several minuses in not accomplishing things as quickly as I would like!)

All drawings pertaining to the P&ID I would recommend having in the same folder. There is a way of splitting them up across different folder, however I have never done this, so cannot comment on issues.

The plant models can be in different folders. The Live DB settings can be set up to connect to a DB in a differnt folder. Also you can load a CFG file from any folder.

Other than that my only recommendation is that if the P&ID's are still work in Progress, don't start linking the two until they are finished. You may link a valve, only to have it get a new number or be deleted completely.

The physical plant as well as the existing network folder structure at our company are divided into several manufacturing areas.
Each mfg. area folder containing subfolders for the P&ID's, ISO's, 3D Models, Ortho's, etc.

With a lack of practical experience with the CADWorx (P&ID & Plant) application(s) and using databases, it appears that each mfg. area/network folder would require its own set of support files such as a project.cfg, (database) .mdb file, etc.

The rub is that there are a about half of the mfg. areas where product is piped between them.

QUESTIONS
1. Would you recommended the above setup (keeping each mfg. area's folder set separate)?
2. With the combined mfg. areas, do you have any recommendations as to how to set up and maintain the application support (as far as mfg. area 'project-related') files?
