1.) What are some of the main advantages in using AutoCAD Sheet Sets with CADWorx Plant documentation?

2.) Are there any disadvantages in using Sheet Sets?

1. Using Sheet sets in CADWorx Plant allows you to take full advantage of the named views created with the View box command saving hours of work. Gives you ways of modify titleblocks with little effort using AutoCAD fields in the titleblock and SheetSet Custom properties. There are so many more advantages like plotting, opening drawings from the Sheet Tab.

2. Really no disadvantages if you use it to pull the views you can stop using it if you do not want to use it anymore.

The only disadvantage that I found is that you need to turn down your refresh. If the SSM file is too large, it will bog down the system with constant refreshes.

You need to train the users to NOT manually overwrite fields. And, some clients don't want fields. Very little time savings if you are working on drawings already created, or if project information changes infrequently.

Oh, really big disadvantage: a sheet can only belong to one sheet set. So if you want to automatically include the same logical drawing in a sheet set you need to either copy the file or do some serious juggling.

I now have a better understand of SSM, gentlemen.

NEGATIVE
1.) Mine is a manufacturing engineering support department and information changes infrequently.

POSITIVES
1.) Automating various CAD tasks
2.) CADWorx 'integration'
3.) The ability to stop its use without negative effects
4.) Computer resources and user concerns are minimal in this environment.
5.) Copying files from the production directory to a project directory is commonplace.

I think I will give the Sheet Set Manager the 'old college try'.
Besides, our existing site asset documentation will require updating along with a drawing border/title block replacement.
