Hi everyone,

I have a bit of a mystery on my hands, and I'm not sure where else to look for answers.

We are re-editing a model. On an 8"-150# line, all but one of the ball valves are 292mm (11.5") long ... they should be 457mm (18").

The spec file (same as was used originally) has the correct dimension, and any new valves I try to model are the right size. A similar issue is on a 6" line in the same model, same spec.

I tried "mode convert" in case it was modelled as something else, but it does not change. It seems right in every way but in length.

Does anyone have any idea how these valves were created at that size?

Model was created with CADWorx Plant Pro 2010 about a year and a half ago, on Windows 7.

Thanks for any feedback!

Somebody may have updated a data file, or changed the spec to point to a different data file, but I think the culprit is someone put the valve in under a 300# spec then did a spec-change on the line.

Which one dimension you need, you can go to set C:\CADWorx 2012\Plant\LIB_I\150 choice BAL-F-L.150 or BAL-F-S.150 Edit Component for your Spec Editor. Then you can get what you want 18" or 11.5".

Although this is not a practise I recommend at all, you can adjust valve lengths without updating the specs in CADWorx.

1. Turn off grouping.

2. Stretch the CL only to the length desired with the grip.

3. Mode Convert.

This is a bad idea, but possible nontheless. Perhaps this is the method one of the other users used.

Thank you all for your help and tips!

Turns out: the spec originally had short-pattern ball valves in it, but now, (since they don't make them anymore) they are no longer part of any spec.
