In accordance with ASME chapter IX Allowable Displacement Stress Range is Sa=1.25Sc+0.25Sh, where Sc and Sh values are from table K1.

In my current project the pipe material is B 444 N06625 which is outside of K1 table. However client material specification stipulates the pipe class is designed per ASME B31.3 Chapter IX, so I have to evaluate the system for ASME B31.3 Chapter IX.

The thing is when I try to define analysis code in Caesar as ASME B31.3 Chapter IX it does not show Sc and Sh for B 444 N06625 material, I think because they are not provided in Table K1.

Dear experts please share your opinion on this. How should I analyse with B 444 N06625 material for ASME B31.3 Chapter IX. Would it be right to take values of Sc and Sh from table A1 and analyse for ASME B31.3 Chapter IX?

Gents,

I have created an SR officially thru Hexagon support.

And received the following reply:

"As long as the material vendor confirms the allowable in A1 can be used for high-pressure piping(Table K1) and the client agrees with the allowable stress(from table A1), you can always use that allowable. This allowable stress is used in thickness calculation and validation as well. So you should be careful while considering the material allowable. You need to add B 444 N06625 in the material database and select that material during analysis."

Does anyone has additional comments/ideas on this?
