Dear experts,

We are working on CS pipeline stress analysis, we have taken 100 m above ground pipeline with supports like rest, guide and anchors are considered. Also we have considered first/last support is an Full anchor, we have done the stress analysis for the pipeline and found that failures are in expansion stress, also huge loads at anchor points.
Here my question is for the above case, we are introducing a new full anchor support somewhere in the middle, we have re-run the stress analysis and found that middle anchor support is not taking any axial loads.
Kindly provide us the clarification and what is happening during the operating condition, why middle anchor is not taking any loads in the axial direction. Also practically how it is nullifying.

If I have a uniform, straight run of pipe with an anchor at each end with only a constant thermal (strain) load, any intermediate anchor added to that line will have no resultant load as it will see the same load on either side.
Unless there is an actual anchor block built into your system, I would not model an explicit anchor restraint in your buried section. Instead, I would model the soil restraints (using the buried pipe modeler) and allow the analysis to set these restraint effects.
