Dears,

During slow transients, such as inadvertent closure of suction and/or discharge valves (e.g., accidental shutdown) & Due to ESD, fast stop or power failure, evaluate the entire system and effectiveness of recycle system in severe dynamic conditions, do we require axial transients in each piping leg & design these restraints for slow/fast transient load along with appropriate dynamic load factor ?

If slug appears, this may worsen the situation.

reg,
sam

Yes. As the Anti-surge valve gets opened suddenly, It can create impact load/thrust force. So we should design supports for such sudden loads. For conservative results/support design (Limit stops), we can take DLF as 2.

Thrust force can be available from the valve vendor.

I agree with you in case of slug. It will add to thrust force and will result into huge axial loads at particular location. But in that case you can use actual slug fraction to reduce/simulate actual force.

Perform dynamic analysis in case you want realistic results. Static slug flow analysis doesn't yield reliable results, sometimes overtly conservative results!!
