Is it possible to use snubber to suppress vibration in a two phase flow line. Are there restrictions?. Basically, the temperature is high, so I need flexibility at the same time rigidity to solve both issues without re-routing the line.
Yes,Snubbers can be employed in such cases. Carpenter and Patersons have special series (“200 Series”) of snubbers which suppress sudden shocks and dampen vibration also, while allowing simultaneous unrestricted thermal pipe movements. Snubbers are dynamic restraints usually employed in the piping system to protect piping and components against sudden shocks, while allowing simultaneous unrestricted thermal pipe movements. When subjected to sudden movements or shocks which exceed designated velocity limits the snubbers "locks up" momentarily and forms a rigid connection.
MK, you are correct. All snubbers can not dampen low frequency vibrations but "series 200" Snubbers by C&P are specially designed for this purpose. You can contact C&P vendor and get more information.Simillar design may be available with other vendors also.
Sway brace would be right choice. line temp, pressure, application ,elevation, material, rating need to be consider before usage of any dynamic restraints.
