Hello,

I used the search engine for several words, but did not find any topic that describes my issue.

My laptop has a Quadro M1000M videocard, driver version 362.46.
Windows 7 pro, CII 2014 Build 150430 7.00.02.1500.
Connection to second screen through Displayport cable.

Laptop left, second screen right. Left pane the "classic piping input", right the 3D model.
When rotating it, the model freezes, when hovering over the model, the balloons will pop up, but in stead of text, it shows the rotation just made. Then after a pause of about 10 seconds the screen will show the model correctly again, until I rotate again.

I did not have this with my old laptop and the exact same build of Caesar. It looks somewhat like a sync problem. So I tried some settings like V-sync and software render etc., but it does not help.
Updated the driver to the latest version, did not work.

Could anyone advise?

Kind regards,
Kelly

Can you test the graphics on your laptop without the second monitor attached?

Second monitor off, no problems. ?
It looks like when the second monitor is on, but the screen is maximized to the laptop monitor, there is no problem. Sometimes a little lag, but not annoying.

I checked the display settings of the monitor, set it from auto to displayport. Did not help. I have no other option like VGA on the laptop to test.

Most modern laptops have a CPU with on-chip graphics hardware, and software that attempts to switch between that and any discrete video card (I believe this is called "Optimus" by nVidia). That switching doesn't always work as it should; it may be the case that the on-chip graphics are being used.

You might want to try disabling Optimus if its present, or otherwise try forcing the use of the dedicated video card.

You might be in the right direction. Your answer "pushed" me to watch the processor cores (8).

Started up Caesar like I normally do, using both screens.
Started task manager. One core completely in use. Compacted the Caesar screen to the laptop monitor, no change. Shut down Caesar, then the core was almost 0% used...>...! That got me thinking: is Caesar using 100% core all the time? Could not imagine that, so tried something else.
Kept taskmanager running and disconnected second monitor, then started Caesar. Hardly any processing activity. (?!?!?!).
Then I activated the second screen, and.... The processor went to 100% again.

So you may be right.

Where do I find Optimus? Do I have it?

I can not find it.
