Hi mates
Could anyone help me out regarding the following information.
I would like to know on what basis the basic soil modeler is generating the following soil properties.

OVERBURDEN COMPACTION MULTIPLIER (>1)........... 8
YIELD DISPLACEMENT FACTOR (>0).................. 0.015
THERMAL EXPANSION COEFFICIENT xE-6 (L/L/deg C ) 11.2131

Also how the above thermal expansion coefficient can be used at various temperatures

CAESAR II doesn't generate these values - you define them in the input. The first two values do have defaults though, which we set to "accepted" values.

Richard,

The thermal expansion coefficient is always 11.2131 (mm/mm/deg) in the buried modeler, whereas the actual value is slightly different (10.5 mm/mm/deg) for the particular material. Please make the point more clear.

Thanks & Regards

You can replace the default expansion rate used in the buried pipe modeler with your value. That value, along with the temperature change, will be used to calculate the virtual anchor length (VAL) for your system. The VAL is based on the sum of loads (thermal strain, end cap pressure extension and Poisson pressure shrinkage) and the pipe/soil friction per unit length of pipe.
Let us know how this changes your VAL (and analysis results).

There is no change in the displacement values or stresses.

The line after the three lines of data you show above asks for the buried pipe temperature change. It is that temperature that is used in the VAL calculation.
