Hello all,

I am running some calculation. My client ask me to check the Nozzle Lmt Check and Flange Check of the equipments under Design Temperature including Win in 4 directions. In my opinion include Win make extra critical the scenario and overdesign the piping geometry. And, the systems in this condition for stress check are OK with the code compliance.

The calculation is under RToD,Dutch code. However I have the same situation under ASME B31.3.

I would like to know if someone know more information about RToD requirement for Nozzle loads and Flange Analysis in case of win, or some good argument or document to avoid this overdesign.

For nozzle limit check first u click the Nozzle limit check tab in caesar. u wiil see a table format in that table just enter the value as per your vessel or pump shaft centre line that will be your RefB vector.or your allowable value can read from caesar in build file.

For Flange leakage check u on caesar flange check tab then as per your requirement u click from ; to; both. then read from file Click ASME 2003 and pressure class caesar will calculate gasket diameter. then in load case option select temperature for corresponding load case from drop down of Flange analysis temperature. See the out put from report.

Thank you for your prompt reply.

I am doing according your instruction, However my question is if should I check the nozzle loads and the flange check with the Design Temperature and the wind loads as well (W+P1+T1+WIN1)?

I consider this sceneray critical.

Regards

Dear Mauro,
In my opinion Wind load should be checked in combination with operating temperature only. Design Temperature is a condition which will not be there in normal conditions. And code also says that two occasional case shall not be clubbed together.

Dear Rajeev

Thank you for your answer.
Could you please sent me one example in one code where two occasional cases not be clubbed together to show to my client.

Thank you in advance for your help. smile
