Hello everyone!

I have doubt on the way CAESAR calculate the high pressure piping system. Initially, the piping wall thickness was calculated using ASME B31.3 Chapter IX. Knowing that Chapter IX is different from the Base Code regarding the pressure design of the piping components. How to perform the validation of pressure stress with CAESAR II since we have no option of selecting ASME B31.3 Chapter IX in CAESAR II? I worried I might get incorrect result. Any advice?

Thanks!

While CAESAR II compares entered thickness to the base Code minimum thickness for straight and bent pipe, the program does not qualify the design pressure for the piping system. (The program does not reference "design pressure".)
CAESAR II does not directly address the criteria found in Chapter IX. Off the top of my head, you will have a different pressure wall thickness calculation, the "non-liberal" allowable stress for displacement stress range, a temperature limit on allowable stress and a more detailed consideration of fatigue in this thick wall piping.

Thanks Mr. Dave for the response.

Yes right it does not qualify the design pressure, liberal stress also not applicable, also the occasional load factor.
How about the Longitudinal Stress Sl calculation in base code, is it the same as the calculation of Sl in Chapter IX?
If feasible, i hope CAESAR II can provide an option to select Chapter IX in the future;)

CAESAR II does not offer a special calculation for sustained stress referenced in Chapter IX of B31.3.
B31.3 Chapter IX offers no equation for sustained stress.
