Dear All

I'm working on Crude Export Pipeline FEED Project. we have Four booster pump of Suction nozzle 24 inch and Discharge Nozzle 20 inch.

Client saying it's an API pump but API 610 gives Pump nozzle allowables upto 16 inch size only. API clause 6.5.3 says for more than 16inch size vendor has to submit allowable loads, as its feed project so we won't be getting Vendor allowables loads.

my office collegues suggesting me to Extrapolates values from API 610 table for required Size.

Kindly Guide me what should I do.

Thank you

Good plan, but don't just extrapolate, plot a few results and go by the trend to your required diameters.

Use the ones for 16". If you can stay within these values, then you are ok. Nobody will argue with this.

Alternatively you can specify "Loads to be confirmed during detail engineering", leaving to others the hard part of the job. There are a lot of this kind of notes on FEED documentation. Great to be FEED engineer smile

Very true - I've found myself more sympathetic to the predicaments that FEED guys have to sort through like this...even if I do want to force choke them when I'm dealing with the results in detail design.

I agree, if the temperatures (if they are even known) allow you to meet the 16" allowables, then you will be in great shape.

If not, I would at least try to get the basic pump and piping layout such that it won't become physically impossible for the detail design guys to add flexibility if needed.
