How do i perform dynamic analysis of a system reaction the pump pulsations?


Hi all,

I have a problem and im sure its a common analysis procedure so I hope someone can point me in the right direction!

I need to perform a dynamic analysis on a small pumping skid to check that the pulsations from the pump will not cause failure. I have performed static analysis before but never dynamic and have never been on a course for it.

A previous member of the staff went on the dynamics course and received a training booklet, but the dynamic section does not cover this issue. Pump pulsation gets a brief mention and am told its a harmonic analysis type(?), but do not have a tutorial to follow.

Can anyone recommend a book/webinar/example/etc that i can follow as reference?

Caesar II can not perform pulsation /surge analysis.
Surge analysis to be perform in other fluid flow analysis sofeware.Recommendation from pulsation analysis to be imputed in caesar model. Like external surge force in se;lected elbows.
Pulsation analysis treport might recommend to use pulsation dampner/ valve opening & closure timing.

Hi,

I think that you need to do a harmonic analysis to check the vibration effect from the pump operation. There is a good free webinar on this subject, and is very easy to do. Check of this webinar on ICAS website, and download it.

Agree with "shr" comment above, regarding pulsation effect. It need to be done in a fluid flow analysis software such as HYSIS, and the result shall be INPUT in to caesar II.

Above are my opinion however, experts can argue/comment.
