hello,
in modeling the support in CAESAR II, i noticed something not logical especially for support containing horizontal guide. if i put a 20mm Gap, for example, i find displacement can reach 40mm in one direction whereas normally 20mm was only allowed in each direction. Can someone give me an explanation. knowing that realization of the support is two obstacles leaving either side of the pad 20mm

You're looking at a range case. For example:

L1 gives +20mm movement
L2 gives -20mm movement

Therefore L1-L2 gives you a range of 40mm (20 - (-20) ).

Hello Mr Richard
Yes i say that is a ragne but the line will be installed in mod point in this range at 0mm, so the displacement in one direction is 20mm only and sometimes the displacement in the opposit direction ist blocked so the displacement in the opposit direction isn't possible and in this direction 20mm only will be permit but in calculation result of CAESAR II we have more than 20mm. whau CASEAR.

Casear II why does not the logical reasoning that guide and moving at the guide support by direction and not by range ie half range in direction.

knowing that for a vertical pipe the reasoning of the range is not valid because guiding a support for a vertical line, for example for one support with 10mm gap,10mm are permit only in one direction and in this case there is a contraduction for reasoning CAESAR II

If you wish to allow 20 mm in one direction and 0 mm in the other, use two restraints (here , in X): +X and -X instead of a single X restraint. Specify a 20 mm gap on just one of them (you have to pick the right one).

No i say this, but my question is whay CAESAR II use this logic of analysis? if we have a new installation, pipes are placed on mid point for guide support so after make installation on service for example the line on support point can be deplaced 25mm in -X direction, if we have guide support with 20mm gap normally due to thermal expansion the pipe will be displaced in one direction only for example -X direction. Normaly in this case the pipe can not displace more than 20mm the gap of the support because the first point of this displacement is the mid point not the extremum point for this range 40mm it's not logically
