Hi!

I'm new to this forum. I'm working on modelling a reducing 16" x 10" cross (piping system is designed to ASME B31.8). I know that this fitting is not a standard ASME B16.9 fitting.

I'm just wondering what are the approached used to consider the SIF for this fitting. From what I read (some old searches didn't produce any results from the forum - probably have been deleted), these are the approach:

1. FEA analysis
2. Info from vendor
3. Consider it as a un-reinforce Tee in ASME B31.8 calculation?

I'm interested to know if option 3 is workable. Thanks in advance for the feedback.

Khor,

Option 3 is probably not going to be appropriate for the kind of branch sizes you have mentioned. Follow the recommendation of MoverZ in the link http://65.57.255.42/ubbthreads/ubbthreads.php?ubb=showflat&Main=11318&Number=50730#Post50730
