Dear Richard,

I receive the warning message as "Hanger loads exist in the model but were not included in the hanger restrained weight run". I am designing the new spring hangers and i dont know why this message comes for the restrained weight run case and what effect it will create.

My load cases for the spring hanger design are,

W - HGR
W+D1+T1+P1 - HGR
W+D2+T2+P2 - HGR
W+D2+T4+P1 - HGR
etc.

I am using the multiple operating cases to design spring hangers.

With reference to the above warning messages, Caesar-II is recommending the following load cases,

W+H - HGR
W+D1+T1+P1+H - HGR
W+D2+T2+P2+H - HGR
W+D2+T4+P1+H - HGR
etc.

From above it is seen that for designing the new hanger, by default Caesar-II is recommending the hanger loads to include in the restrained weight run case and in hanger operating cases.

From my understanding, it should not be so..

Please clarify...

It is possible that you have somewhere in the file another hanger completely defined i.e. spring rate and cold load, hence the warning.

Exactly - and if you have predefined springs in the model, you need to include "H" in that first load case.

Dear Richard and Danb,

I have another warning message as " Note, some designed hangers may support Zero weight loads!"

My load cases for the spring hanger design are,

W - HGR
W+D1+T1+P1 - HGR
W+D2+T2+P2 - HGR
W+D2+T4+P1 - HGR
etc.

I am using the multiple operating cases to design spring hangers.

Is that message is for the hanger design load cases or the operating cases which have hanger loads.

Please clarify....

That message applies to the hanger design load cases. This message means that the Restrained Weight case computed a value of zero for the load a particular hanger has to carry.

Dear Richard,

I am designing the spring hanger considering the multiple operating cases. But this message come in the hanger load case 2 (at design temp case). My system includes 5 spring hangers. I check the "restrain summary extended" report and spring hanger report where the spring absorb the sufficient load and i dont find any zero weight loads.

Also, with this message, how i can find that this warning message apply to what spring hanger. Is this will create any problem, if it is neglected.

Please clarify.....

Your 1st load case is the "Restrained Weight" case, and its output is disabled by default (in the Load Case Options tab of the Static Load Case Editor). Change the status here from "Suppress" to "Keep". Then, review the restraint loads for this case at your hanger locations.

Check the spring hanger table. One or more hanger locations should show zero load.
