This query is regarding unlisted materials in clause 323.1.2 of ASME B31.3:2010.
For Ti Gr 2 having room temperature TS/YS at minimum 50/40 ksi for ASTM B861/862 Gr-2,
if some vendor can provide better material having minium 62.5/50 ksi and similar 1.25 times minimum B31.3 required TS/YS at temperature for each heat/thickness combination of material,
can I invoke this material as unlisted one & use allowable stress as min (TS/3, YS/1.5) both at room temperature & design temperature & meet the above clause to remain within ASME code concurrence ? Can I reduce material cost in this way safely?

The above query was purely to understand the unlisted materials clause 323.1.2 of ASME B31.3:2010.

If some vendor can provide better material properties than the same listed in B31.3 for each heat/thickness combination, can we consider the same as an unlisted material and remain within B31.3 jurisdiction by the above clause ?
