Hai,

Do we need to consider the pad thickness in account to calculate the stresses? and input SIF calculated manually in Caesar. (OR)

We should not consider the thickness of pad in calculating stresses as SIF is already calculated using pads thickness?

Please suggest correct method of inputting in Caesar as in both method drastic difference is there in stress calculation.

What kind of pad are you talking about - on a tee or a vessel nozzle?

The B31 Piping Codes do not address lateral tees. You need to obtain the SIF information from the vendor you purchase the component from, or perform your own FEA to determine this data.

Hallo Sir,

For a lateral tee, i calculated SIF as per FEA analysis.I gave input for SIF which calculated manually.

Shall i consider the thickness of pad in calculating stresses or not? or is CII calculates pad thickness in default.

If i considered or may not which result i shall optimize.

In a piping flexibility analysis, the stress computation is based on the section modulus of the pipe. The presence of a pad on a tee affects the SIF computation only.

The flexibility factor for tees is 1.0 in the Piping Codes.
