Hi

Im using CAESAR version 5.2.While trying to insert a valve from the valve/flange data base an message appears saying "no datbase values".Please let me know how do i get the database values?Do they need to be downloaded ?

Well basically i was interested in knowing the weight of a 20" full bore ball valve with/without actuator installed.

Vin, the valve database is there to help us, as it contains maybe 90%+ of all values so we don't really need to look up valve / flanges each time we insert one. For the cases where there are no database values, you should use a conservative figure from catalogues (search online and compare) or use actual figures if you have already purchased / ordered the valve.

Beware of valve weights, particularly full bore bore valves. there can be a factor of two or more between respective manufacturer's figures, which are already in the several tonnes bracket.

Find which valve manufacturer your specs are written for, talk to Purchasing. then google the company.

Agreed. There have been many times that the valve weights were different than what was actual. You should verify the weight before thinking it is a given.
