You don't. CAESAR II uses "3D Beam Elements" - infinitely thin sticks. The diameter and thickness are used to determine the element stiffness. Other details don't affect the flexibility analysis.

What did you mean by "you don"t" ? don't modelling it in CAESAR?, i think we should modelling it, because it is a special item in piping that having a weight, and its weight do affect the flexibilty analysis in piping pump suction.

Just model it as a pipe with the appropriate weight. What I meant was that the fact the item is a strainer is irrelevant.

In CAESAR II, you have the following (beam) element types:
- straight pipe
- curved pipe (elbows)
- expansion joints
- rigids
- reducers

Everything has to be mapped (modeled) as one of these 5 types.
