Dear all,

i calculate a allowable stress(Sa) for expansion condition at a temp 66deg C in matl A106 Gr.B as per ASME B31.3. Sa= f(1.25Sc +0.25Sh) i get an Sa= 206.84 N/mm2. when compare to caesae 5.1 the expansion stress value is different.whether it varies or my calculation is wrong.cases for only temperature.

By default CAESAR II uses the "liberal allowable" equation. This is the next equation in the Code. Note, Sl varies by element, therefore the expansion allowable varies by element.

Hi Shabeer
You don't have to do anything.

If you follow the next equation as mention by Mr. Richard, it is
Sa= f((1.25Sc +0.25Sh +(Sh-Sl)) So you will get higher allowable.
Residual sustain allowable can be added with normal allowable expansion stress range commonly known as " Liberal stress allowable". Since Sl varies in each element so 2nd expansion allowable range varies in each element.

Some client/company specify not to use liberal stress allowable, in that case you go to "Environment" -"Special execution parameter"-"Liberal stress allowable(for this job)" switch off. In that case you will get allowable ( as you mention before Sa= 206.84 N/mm2)for all the element.

Regards

Habib
