what i am asking is not realted to caesar but i would like to know others opinion. my line is running over concrete pipe rack .line temperature is 500 centrigrade . i am afraid whether there is sufficient temperature loss in shoe so my concrete pipe rack could withstand that temeperature.
(if it is steel piperack i assumed support standard length have taken care this problem)
i have done some premilarily calculation simliar to temperature drop in fins.
but I am highly doubtful about the validity of that calculation (especially the value of h that i have taken )
please suggest how others deal for similar problem . please dont suggest me fem modelling in ansys or any other package.
manual calculation or thumbrules will serve better.
thanks in advance

Regards
Pinky

Generally heat transfer from line temperature is not a concern for hot line. Only need to select proper insulation thickness & material.
However for cryogenic line situation is different
1) clamp shoe type support to be used, Proper insulation will be there between pipe & clamp, No direct contact allowed.
2) Shoe can be welded directly with pipe. some insulator ( Micarta) in between shoe & support structure.
