Hi there
I am working on a jacketed piping system with sulphur media. crosses are used instead of elbows to clean pipes to avoid sulphur solidification and accumolation. i want to ask whether anyone knows which SIF shall I consider for those crosses
any help will be appreciated.

A search of this forum for "cross" yields the following posts:

So, as you can see, the piping codes do not address crosses. You have two options:

a) ask the vendor of the cross what the SIFs are,

b) or perform your own Finite Element analysis to determine the SIFs of your fitting.

Hi,
I'm involved with a piping system similar as yours. I used a welding Tee SIF for the cross. Make sure that you enter the SIF values manually for the cross node in all four elements otherwisw CAESAR do not consider the SIF values. ( Atleast that's the case in CAESAR 4.4)

bBy the way, do you know if it's possible to use expansion joints on such a system?
