I am modeling a slip joint but couldn't get it work. I have searched this forum on slip joint but cannot find an example. Can anybody send me an example for slip joint model?

Did you review the example model of the "slip-joint" in the Applications Guide?

Yes I did.

But there are a few things I wasn't quite sure.

1. In the example, there are nodes 5-10, 10-15, 25-30. Should I also put node 20-25?

2. Also, I put the distance from node 10 to 15 as the maximum allowed travel distance provided by the manufacturer. But if the piping expanion is larger than this, it still passes the code with a very low stress.

3. What is the difference between K1(stiffness for forces below the yield force FY) and K2(stiffness for forces greater than FY)?

Read up on the difference between static friction and sliding friction.

2. Then the joint absorbed sufficient expansion to permit the system stresses to be below the allowables. Just check with the manufacturer to make sure you don't damage the slip joint.
