Hello all!

In your analysis of the air cooler, what is usually the lateral stiffness of the header tubes in lb/in. that you use? Typical estimated value...or can the vendor provide this value?.Many thanks in advance...

I usually treat them as rigid. You are asking for trouble if you are trying to take credit for any flexibility of the tubes.

Ask vendor for tube bundle stiffness. otherwise consider it rigid and keep header end displacement below 6mm as per API 661.you can simulate it by placing stop at the middle location of headerbox.

Borzki,

My personal opinion is , you are not able to properly analyze the system ( pl. don't take my comment in any negative way)as this is not a conventional way of analysis and in opinion uncalled for.You have to understand the way the air cooler will behave. A mathematical model which is away from the physics of the problem will only require such unconventional analysis.

Pl. show it to your senior in your company and ask for his/her comments suggestions.

Regards
