Hi, I am new to Caesar II, I trying Caesar demo, so, I think I will ask you some basic questions... now I ask you this:
in the piping input there is the offsets flag which opens a window asking Offset from and Offset to
What do they mean? I already read the manual and did a search but I couldn't undestand, could you help me please??

Offsets would be used to correct the length of a small element that intersects with a big element. For example, say you ran an 8 inch pipe into a 48 inch header. There is a length of 8 inch pipe (equal to the radius of the header) that you've modeled that really doesn't exist. For pipe sizes close to each other this isn't usually a problem. However, when this (non-existant) length does affect the results you need to account for it. You can do this using "offsets", or use a dummy rigid element instead.

HI,
So, in your example (8 inch pipe into a 48 inch header), which box we have to write, "offset from" or "offset to"? What is the different between them?

That depends on which end of the element runs into the header. You have a "FROM" end and a "TO" end. If the "FROM" end connects to the header then you use the "From Offsets". If the "TO" end connects to the header then you use the "To Offsets".

How do I insert the coordinate numbers?
How do I know what are the coordinates?
Is there a way to give the coordinates by picking the point?

A piping model is built element by element by providing the "delta dimensions" of each element. Therefore the software can determine the nodal coordinates. If necessary you set the coordinates of the first node point (use \Edit\Global or Alt-G).

If you want to see the system coordiantes, use the \LIST\Coordinates option.

No you can't pick a point and obtain the coordinates. Use the LIST for that. There is also a "distance" operator that will tell you the distance between any two nodes (use \Edit\Distance).

Please walk through the examples in the Applications Guide, this exercise will answer many of your questions.
