Hello All,

Please advice me the best way to select the hangers for top discharge nozzles
of three pumps(two operating and one stand by) having symmetrical routing.
And how can I validate that the selected hanger will work fine in both operating and stand by condition of a pump.

Thanks

NK Sharma

Allow the program to select the spring . The hot load is the actual dead wt. distribution load , which I would prefer not to disturb. For symmetric loading the hot load should be symmetrical.Regarding the cold hot situation check if the loads are within the limit with this spring setting. It is preferable that the loads be symmetrical for symmetrical loading.Make the fluid density zero on the riser for accurate spring load ( this is a good practise for higher size pipes (typically 12" and above).

Regards

Read this interesting discussion on removing fluid wt in the vertical riser. Also try to go thro “WRC 449 – Guidelines for design and installation of pump piping systems” for more insight into a pump system analysis.
