Hi;

I am modelling the casing of a pump, and wondering what is it better? to create a structure input and connect it to the piping model or modelling it as a rigid solids structure. I wonder which would be the diference in the output.

Thanks.

Why don't you try to get displacements of the pump nozzle from the vendor? That is a more accurate method and recommended in WRC Bulletin 449.

Vendor does not give us the displacements in a pump, the point is that the pump lies over 6 constant springs, the ones we need to calculate, thatīs why we need to simulate the casing and the body of the pump, I am trying to find out which is the best way to make it.

Best best way i think is :
Model with rigid element it is simpler as structure element an faster.
The pump stiffnes is normaly very high.
Go with the rigid element to your 4 constant spring and define the constant spring on this place.
The connection Pipe/pump (rigid) model with stiffnes (looks like Pumpnozzle)
