Hi Gowri,

Download this and go through the material on load calculation and thermal movement calculations.

You will see a general approach to doing hand calculations and you will likely decide that you do not want to do it by hand. If you are determined to do it by hand, You should go to Chapters four and five of the Kellogg Book "Design of Piping Systems".
