Ok, it's early Monday morning, before 8am.

- What second screen?
- What error (I need more coffee) ...

Could we allow options to setup the screen as in your JPG? I can see having a variety of configurations, and some way to save a desired configuration. These are some of the items that are on the list for Version 5.20.

I was playing with the idea of a two screen system, one for the inputs and one for the graphics (much like pds/pdms etc)
But i never got it.
I would li9ke to park the auxillary data screen properly under the data inputs so that i can dedicate 60% of the screen to graphics. The Jpg shows a gash way of doing this but it doesnt really work.

On close inpection of Jpeg, you'l notice the expansion join grapghic is tying to escape the clutches of the pipe. this problem always happens with expansion joints..

oh and good morning.

Ok, 1 cup of coffee down - I'm better now...

On Two Screens:
Click on the spreadsheet to give it focus. The title bar of the spreadsheet will turn blue (or orange, or whatever your Windows titlebar color is). Now double-click this title bar, which will cause the spreadsheet to un-dock. Once this happens either move the spreadsheet to your other monitor, or move the graphics to the other monitor. To re-dock the spreadsheet, double click the title bar again.

On Rearranging "things":
If you un-dock the spreadsheet you can get more than 60% graphics, you can have a whole screen (assuming dual monitors). There are other possiblities as well, have you watched the videos - specifically "Introduction to Version 5.00" and "Graphical Input & Error Checking".

Providing a number of different setups (or themes) is something we have on the list for Verison 5.20.

Expansion Joint Graphics
I've never seen this before. We'll definately look into what is going on here. (It is interesting that the first time I looked at your JPG - before coffee - I didn't see the problem. Add some balloons, you'll be fine.)

Superpiper,

Could you attach the job file that created this? I've never seen this at all.

You can attach it privately or send it to techsupport--at--coade..dot..com

BTW, is the attached what you are trying to do with docking the Aux window?

yes.
but trying to cheat!
i opened file x in ceasar, watched the j file appear in windows explorer, copy it, then open file y in caesar, watch the file y j file appear in explorer and the paste and rename said j file.

But it went tits up and ive lost the file.

which begs the question, how do we now re-use _.j files?

ive learnt my lesson now

(recovered file from friday)

You're almost there, but ...

The implementation of the "CAESAR II" archive did bring with it some baggage, and the difficulty of reusing _J files is one of them. Verison 5.10 will have a button that allows you to import an _J file from a different job, so this problem will go away.

In the meantime, here is how you do it:

1) Open job X, and when the _J file appears, rename it. The trick however is to rename it to something that CAESAR II won't recognize. So instead of renaming X._J to Y._J, rename it to Y._Jfile.

2) Open job Y.
3) Keeping job Y open, if an _J file is there, delete it.
4) Keeping job Y open, rename Y._Jfile to Y._J file.

The issue is that if you open a "CAESAR II" archive, all the files are extracted. So if an _J file is in the archive, it is extracted and will overwrite one that currently exists (i.e. the one you copied in).

yep dead right, but the aux screen is still not properly docked (hence a yellow colour)
I want to have this as the defacto screen so that when i un pin it, it all disappears.

I painted it yellow - actually that's the tooltip background color. All of the tear-ables are that way. The idea was to make it easy to distinguish the "official" input from the "tear-able".

Maybe once they're docked, I could change the background back to the dialog box color. I'll have to think about a way to do it.
