Not a true Caesar question but does anyone know a quick way to do B31.3 branch reinforcement calcs? I've spent several hours doing hand calcs over the past few weeks and I'd like to find a software or freeware package that will automate the process.

I am considering writing a VB program that will take care of the 304.3 checks and calc additional weld or min. repad size if required. But perhaps someone knows of an existing package I could use.

Thanks.

There is a suite of Excel based calculations that include branch reinforcement calculations. These have been prepared by a Mr Ben Nottingham - his website is http://www.pipingoffice.us/.

Basic package A for USD198 gives you allowable hoop stress, branch reinforcement, SIFs for both B31.1 and B31.3.
