HELLO,

Im analysing a U/G gas transmission line by ANSI B31.8. Existing line material is API 5L Gr.B. We are connecting the new(API 5l X52) line on that. Allowables for API 5l Gr. B is available in B31.8, but API 5L X52 dont have any value. I have kept Sh. & Sy. values as 358000 Kpa. is it correct. When i run this im receiving the warning 134E - "Material allowable/yield out of range on elememnt ---- to ----.code check may not be valid unless properties are manually set." . Line design temprature is 100 deg C. Where can i get the allowable stress value for API 5L X52. And also tell me what are all the governing load cases for ANSI B31.8

Your allowable stress value for X52 is correct (358MPa) and it should be added to the program's material database for B31.8. (I will request that it be added.) Since this data is not explicitly defined for X52, the program gives you that Warning 134E. It's OK. You can verify by checking the allowables stresses listed in the output.

B31.8 Para. 832.1 states that the combined stress calculations provided in paragraph 833 (and used by CAESAR II) are applicable to above ground piping only. I would be intereseted in learnig what you decide to do.
