Dear friends,

I'm supporting a finger-type slug catcher with a length of 170 m. In one portion of each finger of the slug catcher slope is 1/20 and in the other portion is 1/100. I'm not sure about supporting the slug catcher in different portions. Which type of supporting according to the attached drawing is applicable for the support of the pipes 1/20 slope portion?

Thanks

Installing a pipe at an angle such that it's inclined to slide off its support is not a good design.

Michael,

Do you mean in the above-attached drawing, drawing No. 1 is preferred?

That is correct, but don't take my word for it.

Model it in caesar.

10-20-30-40-50-60-70-80.

10-20 = horizontal with +Y at 20. Let's assume it travels in the +Z.

30-40 = horizontal with 45 degree bend at 40.

40-50 = equal parts horizontal and vertical with +Y[0,1,1].

50-60 = equal parts horizontal and vertical with horizontal bend at 60.

60-70 = horizontal run with +Y.

70-80 = horizontal run

Repeat the above steps, except with 510-520-530-540-550-560-570-580.

For 40-50, use a regular +Y, instead.

Run and review the displacements for the sustained case.
