Dear friends,

I have the following doubt in including nozzles in piping model.

1)The file that i received has anchor with displacements (thermal anchor movement) specified . (which is pump connection idealized as anchor).

2) So to include the nozzle flexibility, along with selecting nozzles option whether i should remove the displacements or not.

3) i ran both case with and without (TAM) displacement included along with nozzle flexibility ,results are different. What is happening in the solution process in both cases
can any one suggest the correct methodology. Thanks in advance

The body of the pump will grow, thermally, whether the nozzle is flexible or not.
I question your use of nozzle flexibility for a pump connection. I would agree that there may be some flexibility here but usually one wants to be very conservative (stiffer) when evaluating these connections.

Normally I wouldn't include flexibility for pump nozzle(which vendor can provide that?). For tank, I would.

But recently I had a situation that the boiler feed water pump's allowable got exceeded slightly, and I submit the actual forces & moments to Vendor, and they used FEM to check the casing and shaft(more like alignment). Why don't you ask them?
