Understanding that I'm using an older version of CAESAR... Ver 7.00.01.1600 (Build 141003), whenever I instruct CAESAR to input a 3" 150# NOFLG CONTRL valve, it uses 1# as the weight.

While I don't know if CAESAR calculates a flanged equivalent on the fly, or if it's a separate list of weights, the FLG equivalent also comes out to 1#, plus CAESAR built-in weights of flanges.

Thanks.

We don't have weights for control valves in the database. You can view the data file here: C:\ProgramData\Intergraph CAS\CAESAR II\10.00\LIB_I\150

Use Notepad and open CNT_F_A.150 - you will see the data that is imported when you use that option. If you have your own data you can update the file, but be aware much of this data varies by vendor.

I suppose I never used the control valve option until today (I'd just double up the weight of a ball or globe valve if I didn't have decent information).

For the record, at least in version 7, these are the items that are all defaulted to 1#.

150#, 300#, 600#, 900#
-----
Flanged Control Valves
Gaskets 1/16" thick
Gaskets 1/8" thick

800#
-----
SW Control Valves
Threaded Control Valves

I also note that when we click the Model>Valve, we're referencing the valve and flange database Cadworx.dat, though I couldn't find it on my hard drive.

Suggestion: It might be worthwhile to add an additional field for manufacturer. It would also be nice if the dialogue were drop-down driven that would only display options where available. E.G. If I select manufacturer X, and that manufacturer only provides 800# ball valves, only 800# ball valves are available. Likewise, if I select 800# and ball valves, but only one manufacturer provides them, then I can only select the one manufacturer.

Thanks for taking the time to read.
