Hi All,

I am trying to bringing in CAESAR II in our company for green field and brown field projects.

Right now i need some points, how CAESAR is helpful in maintaining the integrity of piping portion in a existing plant.

Thank you.

If you Get existing piping information (Stress report) from client then you can check the effect of new piping on brown field piping supports.

Thnaks Ankit for your reply,

But client doest have any report with them for any service as it is a old plant, Now they want to know how stress analysis will help them in existing plant for maintaining the integrity of piping system.

Typically brown field analysis is a result of a desire to make modifications of existing piping or analyzing the effects of "mishaps."

As a rule of B31.3, you need not pick a pipe with successful service life and analyze it for no reason, but there may situations where you might, anyways.

An example concern with brownfield design you might consider is the tendency of (some) owners to maximize service life by increasing the corrosion allowance based on pressure, and subsequently derate the pressure. However, this means that your (particularly) small diameter piping approach the thickness of soda cans, while still great at holding a bit of pressure, are not structurally sound enough to hold up those valves and piping spans.

If they are inspecting regularly, and they note pipe thinning, sagging, leaking, etc, then they stand to benefit from analysis to stop those, and prevent future such problems.

Kart89,
In that case, if 3D model is available then you should use it for modelling.

If 3D model is not available then visit the plant and get the detail about pipe routing and support types.

If number of locations are more then you can go for laser scanning of the plant and generate the 3D model of the plant and model the brown field piping in CAESAR.

Check the client old data base for Old isometric for routing
and for support mark up 2D GA DRAWING.Presently we are doing the same for old 1983 plant stress analysis using new code....
