Is there something that would cause the "save as" function from the file pulldown not to work when in the piping input editor in Caesar II 2013 R1?

That should work fine. See if restarting Windows helps.

Thanks Richard, I gave it a try, no luck.

The program aborted abnormally before this problem occured. I looked at the file folder the model was located in. I noticed that several of the temporary files that are created when the CAESAR II file is opened were still hanging around after I closed Caesar. I deleted them, not knowing what would happen when I did that. When I reopened the model, the "save as" function worked. Is there a specific file that I need to delete as opposed to shotgunning a bunch of files not knowing what all of them do?

Thanks again, James

Not that I'm aware of. Can you tell me what files you deleted?

These files ( _1, _2, _5, _B, _C, _E, _L, _M, _N, _R ) are fine to delete, it just means you have to rerun the Error Checker before you can do any analysis.

You don't typically want to delete the _J file since that contains your load case information.

The two "tmp" files are just that, temporary files. These shouldn't affect anything.

The "SaveAs" function should save these files (_a, _j, _7, .soi) to the new name. As long as the new name you select is a legal name, and the new file is not write protected, this should work fine.

Running Caesar 2014. When trying to open a structural file with the structural editor I get the error "The requested operation requires elevation". Same thing if I try creating a new file. It had worked in the past. Tried reinstalling Caesar still get the same error.

This sounds like you don't have (Windows)permission to write to the target directory. Where are you trying to save the file?

The issue is solely on my laptop. I have tried creating or opening a file on our server and my laptop, even tried different folders on both. But I get the same error. Caesar works fine, I can open and save files in the same folders, just a not with the structural editor. The structural editor on my work station can open the same files (on our server) just fine.
