When I apply the SIF from FEA tools, I understand that there are several method to input the SIF properly because effective section modulus of pipe included in the code(B31.3 319.4.4).
So I input the SIF manually in the clssic piping input with type "blank".

And when we choose to input the inplane(outplane) SIF value from FEA to "SIF(i)" space or "SIF(o)" space in CAESAR II file, I know that user have to consider the local coordinate of branch and header line when "type" is left blank.(My is SIF(i) and Mz is SIF(o))

In my system, the header line is in the x-z plane,45degree from x axis, and branch line is parallel to the y axis, I want to input the brach SIF in the branch element. branch element is vertical, so local x is equal to global y. local y axis is same of global x. I checked local My on branch element but My is not inplane nor outplane in configuration because header pipe is 45degree rotated from x axis.
How can I input the SIF(i) and SIF(o) properly?

Bononunboori,

Best method is to define TEE type. Then CAESAR-II will do automatically all these local-global axis conversions.

If you are not defining TEE type, CAESAR-II assumes as a pipe only not TEE.

Pipe local axis defination and TEE local axis definations are different.

Remember If you are defining TEE type. There is a seperate procedure to enter the SIF values taken from FEA. We have to adjust FEA SIFs value.

For further detailed understanding pls refer the below links.
