Hi all,

I have question regarding slug force input for static analysis:

Assuming that I have 4 elbows, which below options is reasonable???

Option 1: considering all slug force at same times
Elbow1: F1x & F1y (F1 vector)
Elbow2: F2x & F2y (F1 vector)
Elbow3: F3x & F3y (F1 vector)
Elbow4: F4x & F4y (F1 vector)

Option 2: considering slug force at different times
Elbow1: F1x & F1y (F1 vector)
Elbow2: F2x & F2y (F2 vector)
Elbow3: F3x & F3y (F3 vector)
Elbow4: F4x & F4y (F4 vector)

Van.

Option 1 may largely cancel out forces, and would not represent the dynamic out-of-balance that you need to investigate.

Analysis similar to Option 2 using a time-history input would give good results.
